WatercolorDescription
The first of my explorations into large-format watercolor. As a rule, watercolorists are limited by the size of the substrate or watercolor medium that we work on. That, and the inherent qualities of watercolor as a painting medium.
Using a specialized coating, I can now create watercolor paintings of pretty much any size. While I have overcome that restriction, the nature of the medium, which is to begin drying immediately, still offers challenges and advantages.
I very much enjoy the study of color, line, and tone. This piece was uninspired by an ultra close-up photograph of a lotus.Try it!
