Agnus Homini
Description
Agnus Dei, the Lamb of God, symbolizes the resurrection of Christ. Agnus Homini could be understood as a reversal of this notion, both an invitation to hedonism and a criticism of hedonism. As an invitation to hedonism, the term might sound heretical to devout Christians. Agnus Homini, however, also implies those elements of the Enlightenment that led directly to the achievements of humanism. So Agnus Homini combines both: the call for a moderate hedonism. This is a philosophical attitude that could well be equated with humanism. (Hubert Thurnhofer)Try it!
